Euphrasy

The scientific name is Euphrasia officinalis.
It is a medicinal plant belonging to the plant family Orobanchaceae.
Euphrasy can also be called: “consolation of the eyes”
It is a plant that lives naturally in Europe, Asia and North America, in grasslands and pastures.
It is an annual weed, of small size; its stem is straight, rounded and branched.
The leaves are oval, toothed, sessile, opposite, and ending in a spine tip. They are bright green.
The flowers of this herb grow in clusters, arranged in sheets or exiles in extremis of the branches. The leaves have a short stalk, are lilac with yellow or white.
The fruit is a pod.
The leaves and tender stems of this herb have medicinal properties ophthalmic recommended in cases of conjunctivitis, sties, and tear, hence the name “consolation of the eyes.”

Cooking: Cooking is done in 20 gr. of Euphrasy per 1 liter of water. The result is an eye drop suitable for cleaning oozing eyes, sties, conjunctivitis; irritation.
The same tea can be eaten as a snack since their bitter taste stimulates the secretion of gastric juices. We recommend 2 cups a day before meals.
