There are about 30 species of Nettle.
Among the most used for its medicinal properties is the stinging nettle Urtica dioica scientific name, and the lesser nettle, Urtica urens.
The stinging nettle is between 50 and 150 cm. high, and has many properties as a medicinal plant.
The lower Nettle however, measuring about 60 cm, and has fewer properties as a medicinal plant that the stinging nettle. Generally the lower Nettle grows with more.
All species are characterized by stinging hairs, with shapes of tiny blisters, which when touched cause inflammation in the skin, itching and hives.
Nettles are perennial shrubs, rough-looking. The root is rich in tannins, which give it an astringent.
This medicinal plant has a reddish or yellowish stem, erect, branched and hollow in the internodes.
The leaves are oval, rough, pointed, and are up to 15 cm. They have a dark green.
The flowers are yellowish to green, axillary and terminal ready. They are small and grow in clusters.

The tea of this herb is indicated for arthritis problems, among others.
